It has good information....bottom line is that really, every "diet" accomplishes weight loss through a lesser caloric intake, hence portion control being the "magic bullet" to achieve weight loss.
She mentions how one big downfall is when you eat something that is both high fat and high carb (example would be potato chips). Those work on your brain in such a way that you can't stop eating them, even when you are full. Manufacturers take advantage of that effect.
At least with portion control, you don't have to eliminate anything (but it would of course help promote better health if you would eliminate the chemical-laced, processed foods).....you just have to eat less of everything. I bought a book years ago which was called the Weigh Down diet...the premise was that you continue to eat your regular diet, but cut everything in half.
My heart doctor once told me he had an overweight patient who ate one whole pie per day (in addition to other food). So his suggestion to her was to eat just half a pie, and she started to lose weight. (don't you wish you ate a whole pie per day????)
So, anyway, this could be a good goal, which doesn't involve any tracking. It just makes total sense if you think about it. Look at the thin people you know...do they load up their plates to overflowing? I don't think so for the most part. I would also think that in time, our over-inflated stomachs would shrink, and this would eventually prevent us from eating huge meals. Remember when a restaurant meal was so huge that you rarely could ever finish it? And now, it doesn't seem too hard to finish some of those platters-ful of food that they call a meal!!
