Salsa

Last night Katie served some Lime Tostito chips, along with a delicious salsa that was Kitchen Cooked brand. I searched for that salsa today at Wal-mart and could not find it, so I am assuming perhaps at Meijers. It had a nice sweetness to it, and was perfect with the chips.

So while at Wal-Mart, I spotted this World Table brand called Roasted Salsa Verde. We have been searching for a salsa similar to Moe's fresh Green Salsa. This one is spicier, and contains more tomatillos than cilantro, but it is very good. I used it as the dressing on my salad. At only 10 calories per tablespoon, you can pour on as much as you want. (sodium is 9% of the daily value for 2 tablespoons of the salsa, so you kind of have to watch that, but even Marzetti's Fat Free Honey Mustered has 12% of the daily value of sodium for 2 Tablespoons, so there seems to be no avoidance of sodium in processed foods).

I am sure this Salsa Verde would be delicious with chips, too, maybe even with baked chips as it gives a lot of flavor.

  1. Hmm, I'll have to remember this. It looks good and I always forget how much I love tomatillos. I found the Kitchen Cooked stuff at Cub. That's a good idea to try it on a salad. I tried lemon and lime juice as a substitute for dressing on a salad and it was no bueno!
